"Major" Bum

Everyone in Pittsburgh is bound to remember former Steelers cornerback #22 Hank Poteat, also known as Henry Major Poteat II. If you don't remember him, I'm sure you remember him dropping every interception you attempted with him on Madden NFL 2002 for PS2. He was born near Philadelphia, PA so it's not entirely his fault that he made the bum list. But partially it is.

Most recently, the Browns sent the following e-mail to all of the members of their mailing list.

The Cleveland Browns announced on Monday night that the team signed eight-year veteran cornerback Hank Poteat as an unrestricted free agent from the New York Jets.

"Hank is a veteran corner who has played inside and outside," said Browns General Manager George Kokinis. "His versatility and knowledge of the system will be an asset to our secondary."

Browns fans everywhere began to riot after they heard the terrible news... too bad there's only 26 of them. Poteat was selected in the third round (77th overall) in the 2000 NFL Draft by the Steelers. He played off the bench for three seasons, and was waived before the 2003-04 season. Because he was a bum. In his time here in the Burgh, he managed 26 tackles and 0 sacks in 41 games. Never had an interception because he couldn't catch,
and he fumbled 7 times on punt return attempts.

He signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers later that season and appeared in only one game before being waived. Why?.. He be a bum.

He went on to win a Super Bowl with the New England Homos. Too bad it doesn't count because they cheated. Moving on...

After spending last season with the New York Jets, like I mentioned earlier, the 31-year-old bum will be returning to the AFC North with the Browns (lol). Can't wait to see him.

One last thing,
If you get stiff armed to the ground by a guy who once cried on national TV (see left), you are an all-time bum.

FACT: Poteat made $1,100,940 with the black and gold.

That's $157,277 every time he fumbled the football! Wow!

  1. Patriots Super Bowls are just as, if not more, legit as the Steelers
